What Daily Grub is

Daily Grub is a search engine for restaurant deals. We find the happy hours and daily specials that restaurants publish on their own websites and list them in one place. We are not a restaurant, an agent or representative of any restaurant, or a reviewer or authority on food or value.

No guarantee

We do not guarantee any deal. A listing can be out of date, incomplete or wrong, and a restaurant can change or end an offer at any time. Check with the restaurant before you go. The restaurant, not Daily Grub, decides whether to honour a deal and on what terms. Daily Grub is not responsible for a restaurant's prices, hours, food or service.

Featured and Promoted cards

A page can show one placed card at the top of its list on a given day. A placed card carries a label that says why it is there:

Featured means Daily Grub's software placed it by a fixed rule: among the deals on that page (and, where the page has a day picker, on that day), the one with the highest score, which is built from our own grade of the deal, the kind and size of the offer, whether it is food, and how many days a week it runs. A local restaurant's deal is picked over a chain's when both are there. A day or item page has no day picker and shows one Featured card for the whole page. Nobody paid for it and no person chose it, and a card that is Promoted is left out of the pick. It is not an endorsement or a recommendation, and a restaurant cannot buy it.

Promoted means the restaurant paid for the placement. While a Promoted card is placed on a day it takes the place of the Featured card on that page and day.

Either way the card shows the deal as the restaurant's own website states it, and the same no-guarantee terms apply. A placement changes where a card sits and adds a label. It does not change the deal's wording, days or hours, and it does not change how other deals are ordered. The same deal also appears in its usual place in the list when the placed copy is not shown. A placement has a start and an end date; when it ends the card goes back to its usual place with no label. While we measure the effect of Featured placements, some visitors, chosen at random, see pages without the Featured card; the deal is still in its usual place in the list.
